lynn’s web blog
this is my wordpress blog enjoyits is here
my viynal lettering has arrived and looks really good got it up on to the wall just need to finish of the rest of the book and get it binded, will be a mad rush the last day everything to be done by friday,
i bar entrance
was going to do the magnetic black board in the shape of just a square, but with what i want to write on it i decided it would be good as a door , i bar the entrance of all places they come to for divine serivce and ministration of the sacraments of the holy church except the sacrament of infant baptism only.
pages of the book
for the colouring in book decided to have the writing on one side and the drawing on the other, with a random colour selection picking colours out of a hat, what ever part it curses i will colout that area, leaving the rest of the picture free for who ever else whats to colour it in
blackboard
decided to add another eliment to the installation, as the space i have is big enough and calls for it in the area that empty decided to add a magnetic black board
, reason for this is i have bought magnet letters and i am picking out a art of the curse thats relevant to children, its where my original idea really came from for the childrens play area, spelt out the part of the curse , the bishop didnt not curse the border reviers children they where the only ones that where allowed in to churches for baptism,
table and chairs
decided to go for the table and chair set that i seen in ryman for my installation, making it isnt important, it the fact there child like and that i got them in carlisle that is the important part, i also like the style of the chairs they are shaped like crayons which ties in with the colouring in book.
colouring in book
been doing the colouring in book for the last week or so its very time consuming, been tring out different ideas for itin these picture i wasnt sure what type of line i wanted to use, thin line or thick line, but once i started to draw the lines in thicker i realised i prefered the thin line, so i had to draw them again
fairytale
its amazing how wrong you can get this, i gave a company a draft of the cut up curse and asked them to print it for me on to viynal, they sent me back a draft of the words, to check over and it have about 10 or 15 mistakes , i found this interesting , i have changed the curse then someone else has changed my version as well, bit like chinese whispers, wonder if there something else in there.
the fairytale of carlisle
i was originally going to paint the words of the curse on to my wall but realised that is would take me longer than 2 weeks and i would end up killing myself trying to make sure i got it right, there nothing the matter with an artist getting outside help, i have decided to go for viynal lettering, i have the up stair space and it has 3 panels each one 5ft by 4ft, to have the fairytale version of the curse placed in to each panel would have cost me 285 pounds very far out of my price range so decided to go for one panel and keep it in the one place, which is only 95 pounds, woo can afford that just.
back to uni
back to work today, there still alot of building to do, but i need to do lots of my own work it so will have to get cracking with that, 2 weeks and counting till my assessment and i have to have a 30 page book ready for it and a play area,
what will i put on the pages
the colouring in book for my installation is what is going to take up alot of my time leading up to the assessment and the exhibition, ive started a few idea’s as you can see in previous posts, i have decided to just use the first verse of the colouring book for the book, the first verse is directed to the people rather than there posessions i find this more interesting as it links to the fact that it is people that made the curse and people that believe in it or not, the photos i have been taken have been of people in the centre of town and after looking at various artist that use the figure in a cartoonish way. i want to incorparte these photos in to the colouring in book rather than using the animals as well.
“I curse their head and all the hairs of their head; I curse their face, their brain (innermost thoughts), their mouth, their nose, their tongue, their teeth, their forehead, their shoulders, their breast, their heart, their stomach, their back, their womb their arms,, their legs, their hands, their feet, and every part of their body, from the top of their head to the soles of their feet, before and behind, within and without.”
