what i see.
since my time here in carlisle i have been lookin round trying to find things that interest me, mainly concentrating on the architecture. i dont want to get to involved the the people at this moment. walking round i have found some interesting imagery. what i have found really fasinating is there extensive use of red brick,
luguvallium
looking in to the history of carlisle i came across many differnt manes for the town which also have different meanings.
Llugyda-gwal: army by the wall.
lugu-vall-ium : forts on the water.
luell: was the name given to the town by the saxons then they added the saxon work for city (caer) which lead to the name caer-luell to the present name that is is known today. the meaning to the names i found very interesting army by the wall, the settlement was right next to hadrians at the time of the romans. forts by the water i will have to look in to more.
my view of carlisle
well im scrapping the compulsive behaviour plans for the moment.i have decided to concentrate on looking in to my new surrounds, mainly carlisle. I got the inspiration from corbusierhuas in berlin when i visited the building over the summer, it really changed my perconceptions of something and how we shouldnt judge a book by its cover, when i went to see the corbusierhaus i thought it would just be a block of flats and a really uninteresting place to visit, but i realised it was i really a great piece of architecture and worth while the visit. i am taking this in to account but not judging carlisle by what other people have said off it, but making up my own mind on how i see it.
negotiated project
the project we got over the summer is the project we will be working on for the lead up to our exhibition in january. the day we started we had to hand in a project brief out lining our intentions fo the project in the coming months, i had few ideas but settled on looking at carlisle, we can do anything with this project there is no restrictions which is good means we can be open to anything
university of cumbria
As of this monday i will no longer feel like a telford college student, i will have moved to carlisle and start my studies on the monday, we all ready have a project to do which i am very very confused about and we have to do a talk on our past work,
im considering looking at they way people do certain things and why, for example
for me ive always wondered why i bite my fingers why i twirl my hair ,
tracey emin 20 years retrospective
before leaving for carlisle i went to see tracey emins work at the gallery of modern art, what i found really interesting is my view of the bed from 10 years ago to now. when it first cam out i was 19 working as a sales assistant in a shop and i thought that is not art is a load of crap, but now 10 years on after stuying art for the last 4 years, i found myself enjoying tracey emins work, her art and personal life are very closely linked together everything she dos can produce art from it .her arteven come out of her dreams , its not the way i want to die
